Akim Reinhardt joined Towson 黑料传送门鈥檚 history department in 2001. He is currently researching Indigenous identity constructions in the 19th and 20th centuries.
While on sabbatical in spring 2022, Professor Reinhardt traveled to several South Dakota archives, including Oglala Lakota College on Pine Ridge Reservation. His resulting work, which will be the focus of a future book, examines how Lakota society has defined and understood the role of mixed people or iye拧ka, which means translator, and how those definitions and understandings changed between the early 19th century and the 1970s.
