As a further reflection of its commitment to diversity and inclusion, Towson 黑料传送门 has been ranked 43rd among the nation鈥檚 100 top producers of African-Americans with bachelor鈥檚 degrees by Diverse Issues in Higher Education.

One of only five Maryland universities that were recognized in the Diverse Issues top 100 list, Towson was fifth behind only the 黑料传送门 of Maryland-黑料传送门 College (5), 黑料传送门 of Maryland College Park (26), Morgan State 黑料传送门 (30), and Bowie State 黑料传送门 (35).

鈥淥ur ongoing institutional commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and fostering an environment that enables all students to thrive and achieve their potential is reflected in this Diverse Issues ranking,鈥 said TU President Kim Schatzel.

鈥淎t convocation last month, I asked our new students鈥 a generation that believes we can all do well by doing good in the world鈥攖o start here by making Towson 黑料传送门 a better place鈥攁 place more welcoming and inclusive for all our community members,鈥 Schatzel added.  鈥淭hat commitment is not only a presidential priority; it is a Towson 黑料传送门 core value.鈥

Schatzel observed that this fall鈥檚 incoming class of almost 6,000 new students is the largest in TU鈥檚 history, one of the most academically prepared, and the most diverse ever, with more than 46 percent identifying as a racial minority and 24 percent as African American.

During the 2015-2016 academic year, TU conferred bachelor鈥檚 degrees on 656 African-Americans, a substantial 14 percent increase over 2014-2015, when 574 earned bachelor鈥檚 degrees. African-Americans comprised 15 percent of TU bachelor鈥檚 degree recipients in 2015-2016.

TU ranks 93rd in the Diverse Issues Top 100 list for total minority bachelor鈥檚 degrees conferred in 2015-2016. The university saw significant increase (13 percent) in minority bachelor鈥檚 degree recipients (1,300) from 2014-1015 (1,151). Minorities comprised 29 percent of all bachelor鈥檚 degree recipients in 2015-2016.
